Terban Wins BNL's 2018 Baumert Ph.D. Thesis Award

Dr. Maxwell Terban is the recipient of the 2018 Julian David Baumert Ph.D. Thesis Award from Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL).

The 11th annual award will be presented during the NSLS-II and CFN Users’ Meeting on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at BNL. After the presentation of the award, Dr. Terban will give a 15-minute presentation on his thesis, "Characterizing the Atomic Structure in Low Concentrations of Weakly Ordered, Weakly Scattering Materials Using the Pair Distribution Function".

"This award was established in memory of Julian David Baumert, a young Brookhaven physicist who was working on x-ray studies of soft-matter interfaces at the National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS) before he died in June 2006." It is given annually to "a researcher who has recently conducted a thesis project that included significant measurements at NSLS/NSLS-II." (BNL website)
